What Is PRO-Ohio?
PRO-Ohio is a tool to help teachers prepare students in grades 2-10 for success on the Ohio Achievement and the Ohio Graduation Tests.
How Does PRO-Ohio Help Students Achieve?
PRO-Ohio provides:
- A Benchmark/Indicator-driven learning tool designed to help teachers prepare students for success on the OAT/OGT.
- Assessments in math, reading, science and social studies in grades 2 through 10.
- Assessment Modes:
- Long-cycle paper diagnostics Baseline (Form A) Formative (Form B)
- Short-cycle web assessments
- Constructed-response reading and math assessments for grades 3-9 and for all four OGT subjects. Rubrics are provided for teachers for grading.
Does PRO-Ohio Work?
Schools report significant gains after using PRO-Ohio.
- Hamilton City Schools realized a 43% increase over the average State increase and placed first among the top ten similar districts (2005-2006).
- Mentor City Schools achieved a 12% gain in both reading and math for grades 3-8 (2005-2006).
- Toledo Public Schools rose from 5th to 1st place among the Big 8 on the 6th-grade OPT (2001-2004).
- Toledo Public Schools increased 4th-grade scores an average of 13 points for each subject (2004) — twice the increase of the other 7 large schooldistricts.
